Here's the exact 10-step checklist I follow for every pool, every visit. No shortcuts.
Test water chemistry (pH, chlorine, alkalinity, CYA, calcium)
Add chemicals to correct any imbalances
Skim surface — remove all leaves, bugs, and floating debris
Brush walls, steps, benches, and tile line
Vacuum pool floor (manual or check auto-cleaner)
Empty skimmer baskets and pump basket
Check filter pressure — clean or backwash if needed
Inspect pump, motor, heater, salt cell, and plumbing
Check water level and top off if needed
Log service notes and flag any issues
